A transformative state-of-the-art facility designed to combat drug and alcohol abuse is on the cards in the Klipfontein View community of Ward 32.
The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA), the City of Johannesburg’s infrastructure arm, has commenced with the construction for the Klipfontein Wellness Centre in Midrand, Region A.
This state-of-the-art facility will include a 2175m2 clinic and a 2247m2 Social Development Drug Treatment Centre. The facility aims to provide critical support and services to individuals and families impacted by substance abuse.
The primary objective is to create a haven for young people at risk of drug misuse and those experimenting with drugs.
The Klipfontein Wellness Centre will offer a comprehensive range of services, including advice, counseling, treatment, rehabilitation, and aftercare.
Moreover, it will serve as a hub for community engagement and awareness campaigns aimed at educating our youth about the harmful consequences of substance abuse.
Key Features of the Klipfontein Wellness Centre will include:
Comprehensive Care: The facility will house a 2175m2 clinic, offering accessible healthcare services for those affected by substance abuse. Additionally, a 2247m2 treatment center will provide specialized treatment and support for individuals on their journey to recovery.
Outdoor Sports Facilities: As part of the scope of works, the JDA will incorporate outdoor sports facilities within the center. This will include a soccer field, an outdoor playground, running track and an outdoor gym to promote physical fitness and recreation.
Safety and Compliance: The Klipfontein Wellness Centre will adhere to the highest occupational health and safety standards to ensure the well-being of all patients, staff, and visitors.
Community Engagement: Beyond clinical services, the center will actively engage with the community to raise awareness about the negative effects of drug abuse, especially among our youth.
“The Klipfontein Wellness Centre represents a significant step toward dealing with socio / economic ills such as drugs abuse, alcohol abuse and unemployment amongst young generation in Joburg,” JDA acting CEO Siyabonga Genu said.
“Once completed, the JDA will hand over the Klipfontein Wellness Centre to the City of Johannesburg’s Social Development Department,” he noted.
